Start People Ltd are currently recruiting for an experienced Food Quality Assurance Officer on a permanent basis for our market leading manufacturing client based in the Nelson area.

The nature of the role is to ensure the company maintains the highest standards of quality in all aspects of manufacturing by adopting a “hands on” approach to quality improvement in the factories. With this, you would be working a mixture of days and nights rotating 2 weekly, based permanently on the factory floor monitoring quality and reacting quickly to avoid customer complaints and ensure quality remains at a high standard.

Role and responsibilities

  • Proactively work to ensure consistency of standards, reporting and sharing of best practice
  • Monitors external feedback for site (complaints/audits). Responds and drives actions for resolution through the Production team.
  • Support Site Technical Team in the facilitation of HACCP/TACCP/VACCP ensuring that it is accurate and reviewed annually to the required standards.
  • Support with customers, suppliers and 3rd parties on all visits and audits.
  • Driving hygiene standards through with daily line tours educating staff on the need for excellent site hygiene
  • Works closely with Site Quality Co-ordinator in driving the site Quality Audit agenda
  • Achieve compliance at all external audits and accreditation
  • Deliver quality based training across all departments on both a one to one and group basis to support continuous improvement.

Competences, Qualifications and Experience

  • Knowledge and experience of working within FMCG environment
  • Knowledge and experience of quality systems and processes
  • Qualification in Quality or 3+ years’ experience
  • Previous involvement and exposure to audits with external bodies and customers
  • Background in QC / QA, specifically with experience in product / packaging quality
  • Work ethic based on an inclusive, communicative, fact-based, but flexible style. Ability to demonstrate working on own initiative and think through to solution
  • Decisive, pro-active and assertive
