Start People Ltd are seeking a dedicated Warehouse Operator Night Shift to join our client based in Team Valley Gateshead.
This role requires a UK Driving license as you will be moving vans around the yard.
The shifts are fixed nights Sunday to Thursday.
Sunday 7pm to 7am / Monday to Thursday 6pm to 6am.
This role is vital in ensuring the efficient and safe handling of goods during overnight operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing inventory, operating warehouse equipment, and supporting the seamless flow of materials through shipping, receiving, and stocking processes. This position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and safety are paramount. Responsibilities
- Operate pallet trucks and other warehouse machinery safely to load, unload, and transport materials throughout the facility.
- Manage stock levels using warehouse management systems (WMS) to ensure accurate inventory tracking.
- Handle materials efficiently, including picking, packing, and preparing items for shipment or storage – working in the chiller
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities by verifying incoming and outgoing shipments against documentation.
- Load and unload trucks with heavy lifting equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain organised storage areas by stocking shelves systematically and ensuring accessibility.
- Support warehouse management system data entry, including updating stock movements and inventory adjustments.
- Conduct routine mechanical checks on equipment such as forklifts to ensure operational readiness.
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily operational targets while maintaining safety standards.
- Follow established procedures for materials handling, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in a warehouse environment, preferably with night shift schedules.
- Valid UK Driving License.
- Strong physical capability for heavy lifting and manual handling tasks.
- Mechanical knowledge related to warehouse equipment maintenance is advantageous.
- Experience of working in a warehouse and chiller section
- Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures, including load & unload operations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
- Basic understanding of safety protocols related to heavy machinery operation and materials handling.
