
FLT / Warehouse Operative – Bishop Auckland
Start People Ltd are seeking a dedicated FLT Driver/Warehouse Operative to join our client in Bishop Auckland.
Candidates will be required to have an in date Counter Balance License and be able to work rotating shifts. **SHIFT ALLOWANCE IS PAID EXTRA**
Shifts are rotating week on week
- AM Monday to Friday 6am to 2pm
- PM Monday to Thursday 2pm to 10pm and Friday 11:30am to 5pm
- NIGHTS Monday to Thursday 10pm to 6am
This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of warehouse activities, including the safe handling, storage, and transportation of goods. The successful candidate will play a vital part in maintaining efficient warehouse workflows, supporting shipping and receiving processes, and ensuring inventory accuracy. Duties
- Operate forklift trucks safely and efficiently to load, unload, and move materials within the warehouse
- Assist with stock management using warehouse management systems to track inventory levels accurately
- Handle materials with care, ensuring proper storage and organization to optimize space utilization
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and perform basic repairs or notify maintenance for mechanical issues
- Support shipping and receiving operations by preparing goods for dispatch and verifying incoming deliveries
- Assist in the accurate recording of stock movements, including loading and unloading documentation
- Perform heavy lifting tasks safely, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse environment to ensure safety standards are met
- Collaborate with team members to improve warehouse processes and efficiency
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating forklift trucks (certification FLT Counterbalance required).
- Strong understanding of warehouse management systems and inventory control procedures
- Mechanical knowledge for basic equipment repair and troubleshooting
- Experience in materials handling, shipping, and receiving operations
- Good numeracy skills for basic math calculations related to stock counts and measurements
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and consistently in a physically demanding environment
- Prior warehouse experience is highly desirable; familiarity with logistics procedures is advantageous
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
