FLT Driver – Stanley, DH9
Start People Ltd are seeking a dedicated FLT Driver/Warehouse Operative to join our client in Stanley (Annfield Plain) within their logistics team. This role involves operating forklift trucks and supporting various warehouse functions to ensure smooth and efficient materials handling. The ideal candidate will possess relevant warehouse experience, mechanical aptitude, and a strong commitment to safety and accuracy. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their skills within a dynamic warehouse environment.
Shifts will start (Training only) Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm then move to shifts Monday to Friday rotating week on week 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklift trucks to load, unload, and transport goods within the warehouse
- Manage stock movements using Warehouse Management System (WMS) software
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including verifying incoming and outgoing shipments
- Handle materials efficiently, ensuring correct storage and placement
- Perform basic equipment repairs or report maintenance issues promptly
- Conduct regular inspections of forklift equipment to ensure operational safety
- Support with general warehouse duties such as organising stock, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring safety standards are met
- Assist with inventory counts and cycle counting procedures
- Ensure accurate documentation of all materials handled and transported
Skills
- Proven experience in warehouse operations, including load & unload activities
- Valid forklift licence with demonstrated competence in operating forklift trucks safely
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control procedures
- Mechanical knowledge for basic equipment repair and troubleshooting
- Ability to handle heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Basic maths skills for inventory counts and measurements
- Strong understanding of shipping & receiving processes
- Mechanical aptitude to assist with minor equipment maintenance when required
